A smart way to make a lasting impact

Donating appreciated securities, such as stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares, can be one of the most effective ways to support the Great North Innocence Project while also providing potential tax benefits. Your stock gift helps free innocent people, support exonerees rebuilding their lives, and strengthen efforts to prevent future wrongful convictions.

Why give stock

You may be able to avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation of donated assets.

You may be eligible for a charitable deduction for the fair market value of the securities, if you itemize.

Your contribution provides immediate resources for GNIP’s litigation, education, and advocacy work.

How to make a stock gift

Consult your broker or financial advisor about the securities you’d like to donate.

Contact GNIP for transfer instructions. We’ll provide our brokerage account details and ensure your gift is processed securely.

Notify us of your transfer so we can properly identify and acknowledge your gift. Please include:

  • Your name and contact information
  • The name of the stock or security and number of shares being transferred
  • The approximate value or date of transfer
