The Great North Innocence Project frees people convicted of crimes they did not commit and prevents wrongful convictions. Our work is focused in three key areas.

Investigation & Litigation

We rigorously screen applications, conduct in-depth investigations, and provide high-quality pro bono legal representation for wrongfully convicted, innocent people.

Outreach & Education

We educate criminal legal professionals, law students, and the broader community to increase awareness of the causes and consequences of wrongful convictions.

Policy Advocacy

We advocate for policies and legislative reforms that prevent and remedy wrongful convictions, address systemic failures, and create a more just criminal legal system for all.
